about

Back in 2005 I had a jazz fusion trio which featured two virtuoso musicians; Dave Woodhouse on keys and Mark Hartley on bass.
Sadly Dave passed away far too young an age back in 2010.

I haven't played with Mark since 2006 but this summer I asked him to help me out on a masterclass I was doing.
He popped round for a jam just to oil the old wheels and before we knew it we had made this album!

Well, what can you expect?

It's my usual mix of experimental jazz fusion, prog, funk and electronica but this time featuring the insane bass playing of Mark, who is capable of super human feats his instrument.

But it's also worth noting this album was created out of jams and improvisations. Everything you are hearing is being played on the spot and for the first time. I just added some guitar and programmed keyboards and after a bit of editing and studio magic we ended up with these tunes.
Some like 'The Wild One' and the Interludes are pretty much the raw jams where as tunes like 'It Happened one Night' are edits of jams made more coherent with a lot of overdubbing.

All Mark's overdubbed solos are first takes too, this is a very organic album. There are mistakes here and there but there is also some really intense passages where Mark really pushes the limits of what a bass or a rhythm section normally do. And it's goddamn funky too!

One for the bass players out there definitely!
